24th Symposium on Fusion Technology - 11-15 September 2006 - Palace of Culture and Science, Warsaw, Poland
How to reach Warsaw

By Plane

Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport is located about 10 km from the city centre. It has a network of flights connecting it directly to all main destinations. It has a car rental (see: licence) and the tourist information office at the Arrival Hall. You can also reach the city centre by bus number 175. The Airport recommends the services of three taxi companies, namely: Merc Taxi, phone: +48 (22) 677 77 77, MPT Radio Taxi, phone: +48 (22) 9191 and Sawa Taxi, phone +48 (22) 644 44 44. We advise you against using unlicensed taxi carriers which offer their services in the Airport Arrival Hall.

By Train

There are direct rail links from Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, Prague, Brussels, Kiev, Vilnius and Budapest with sleeping-couchette and dining-cars. The trains run to the Central Warsaw Station, which is located in the heart of the city centre 300 m to the Symposium venue. Taxis are readily available at taxi ranks outside the station.

By Car

Those participants who are planning to drive should take into account that there is no well developed motorway system in Poland and road conditions are such that high speeds are difficult to maintain. Please remember also to have valid card insurance (check with your insurance company if you need Green Card motor insurance in Poland). See also driving licence requirements. The Symposium venue is located in the very centre of the City and it is surrounded by paid parking and there is no free parking in the vicinity. Also almost all recommended hotels have parkings for guests, but usually at extra cost. Please check with your hotel or with the Symposium Secretariat.

Visa requirements

Citizens of more than 60 countries do not need visa for visiting Poland. The up to date information can be find on Polish Foreign Affairs Ministry pages

Driving Licence Requirements

The driver must present a national driving licence held for a minimum of one year at the time of rental. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is also required if your national driving licence is not in Roman script. This is recommended for translation purposes and may only be used in conjunction with a national driving licence. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is mandatory for American Citizens.
Please note, that these are general rules and the car rental company could have additional requirements (i.e. minimum age of 21, etc.).
